“The collective Feminine heart right now needs incredible sensitivity, support, care and nurturing.” Sophie Bashford
We, as women are powerful beyond measure. How do we bring forth the full scope of our confidence and gifts to our lives and to our careers? It is up to us. Fully in our hands – this time is it.
It takes courage to walk fearlessly – unapologetically and to feel successful in our roles – professionally and personally.
Several years back, I facilitated an in-person session for women called Women Leading with Grace. Often in my studio sessions I’d use improvisation and theater games to stand in as metaphors for how we powerfully connect and communicate.
There was this one game, a fun and favorite of many, that had a jarring response. The women in the circle would simply toss the ball to someone else in the circle. Sometimes the ball would drop. The ball often drops. We drop the ball on occasion. No biggie.
Yet, some women in the room were massively flustered when they dropped the ball and because of that they dropped the ball even more and then, Horrors! – they kept saying “I’m sorry” over and over again. I won’t deny that I completely lost it.
Why? Why apologize? By stopping to say “I’m Sorry”, it broke the game. The fun and momentum was lost. Pick up the ball and keep going. NO “I’m sorry”.
There was a serious “come to jesus” on why is there this need to repeatedly say, “I’m sorry”. We agreed that it would be forbidden in the room for the time being. How does one erase the constant “I’m Sorry” from their lives? This awful insistence on being apologetic all the time?
When we are solid in our foundation and comfortable in our skin we can stand in our power and in our grace. Let us explore beyond where a strong traditional mindset exists by building a mastery with women that lead with grace.
