Having Rapport with people is like singing in a choir.
When we are aligned in Rapport with people, things are so seamless and satisfying. It’s like singing in a choir. We are far more likely to stay in tune because we have all those “voices” around us already singing in tune. We naturally attune with the others where we naturally hold the pace, the tempo, the tone.
At the same time, no one can sing for you. It’s your sound that comes out. It’s your part.
Relationships built on rapport hold you in place. And when you are exactly in rhythm and in tune with everyone in the same choir you don’t get ahead of the other voices. You don’t get behind either. And you all come to finish at the same time. Listening and sensing is to the forefront. This is also very similar to playing your instrument in an orchestra.
Rapport is a frequency, a tuning fork. It helps us to accelerate our capacity to work in concert with others toward a shared purpose. And who isn’t attracted to the sound of that? Having the attentiveness and the sensitivity to see and listen to the other and adapt is a very real skill.
We invite you to join the online masterclass of Foundations for Leadership Communication – How to Build Rapport with Diverse Audiences.
Within this course Rapport is defined and is practiced to enliven your ability to become nimble at finding it and applying it.
