My Story

Today, with so many distractions, it seems that capturing and holding someone’s attention is wildly challenging.  When you show up to them as fully open, present and connected to yourself and to them, you are seen and heard by your listeners and all while holding great ease, comfort and confidence.

How do you do this?

Actually, my clients do it themselves. They use the distinctive, proven skills & practices offered and coached. They apply them. First, by getting the language and narrative right & resonant. Then, with their presence, impact & physical expression.

It begins with building rapport – even with diverse audiences. When you master this, your ideas are more readily accepted; and you make your unique contributions.

My clients tell me that they feel more comfortable in their skin. Their work relationships have improved and that they are now seen as the expert they are. Whether you are in school or in business, your impact is needed. Stand out.

I recall when, very young, I could “read” people and what they were actually saying had nothing to do with the words. I could observe and interpret the actions, gestures, facial expressions and tone of voice that had as much or more meaning than the words. Even then I could feel the incongruences.

Fast forward, while in corporate management in global companies, I recognized what was holding people back. During that time, there was little attention paid to coaching and training in the essential skills for leaders or anyone else.

Alongside my career, I had the misfortune of losing my voice. Advised by a preeminent voice physician in New York City that I’d have to train to recover it, and this training resided in theatre and performance studies.

I know what it’s like to start again by learning something better.

My career took a terrific turn when I was offered an opportunity to step out of my corporate role to work as a coach and trainer for an international business communication training company. It was the break of a lifetime. I found myself good at this, enjoyed it immensely while bringing exponential results to the clients I served.

I know what it’s like to make a significant change.

As well as things were going, I confessed to my voice teacher that I felt fake, wooden, false, and out of alignment. I’d lost my childlike verve- my joie de vivre. She told me about Improvisation (not Improv) training that taught me to be present in the moment and maintain confidence by becoming comfortable being completely in the unknown.

I know how it feels to be out of step, to lose faith and confidence, and how to regain it.

Because of my performance, voice, Improvisation training and experience, I was sent to work with very senior people in our client companies to help them with their Presence. Their results were palpable as they found the secret of being present.

Wanting to become ever more adept at providing specialized coaching to help my clients, I furthered my training by taking a two-year sabbatical to attend an acting conservatory in New York City. It is here where I immersed myself in voice, movement, and improvisation with Master teachers. I availed myself with other masters’ training as well.

I need to tell you that this training was painfully gruelling. I had to face a lot of “devils”.

By challenging myself in this way (and living to tell about it), I appreciate what it is my clients have to go through when confronted with their challenges.

It was here that Presence and Impact was born.  This physical work is what is needed to find a powerful presence and impact.

I support people to get their messages crafted and resonant; and to get their voice heard. This way, my clients make their contribution and enjoy their work with great comfort, ease and confidence with this undeniable presence.

I’ve supported senior leaders, emerging leaders, executives, students, women, those new to the workforce, activists, artists, and public figures in capturing and holding attention through an unforgettable presence.

My work focuses on the non-verbal as well as content that connects with the real needs of the listener(s). The work is based in the spirit of experimentation. You find in it what is right for you. I like to say that we play.

My Biography

I’ve had the privilege to work with C-Suite leaders, executives, managers, emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, students, artists, political figures, justice organizations and graduates to produce the results they want by honing their communication skills in the two areas of verbal and non-verbal.

After 15 years of business management experience within world class corporations, I have for over two decades, coached and advised hundreds of senior executives within major companies and other organizations to communicate their vision and drive unprecedented results.

Prior to setting up a private practice, I spent six years at, and was certified in coaching by Rogen International, a global communication consulting firm.

My clients reach their results with increased authenticity, expressivity and clarity of communication—both verbal and non-verbal. This way they achieve their highest potential and personal and professional goals through the powerful connection they make with others.

Along with my business and coaching experience, I’ve trained and continue to train with mentors and teachers – who are world renowned Master Teachers in voice, movement, improvisation and acting technique. I’ve adapted and curated practices I have garnered which brings much success to my clients.

What distinguishes my work is that I draw on my extensive background in performance studies and in business management you receive a unique coaching experience.

I have extensive experience working with people across all industries in all levels of the organization – in global, large, small and in impact companies.

Together we worked so that they’ve gained the results that brings results.  Examples of the firms are available upon request. I maintain the privacy and the confidentiality of the people who I’ve coached and trained.

We don’t need to be perfect.

Just genuine.

My Values

The values underpinning who I am, those that I hold near and dear in this world are caring, fairness (justice), honesty and high integrity.

Also, Community: how we gather in service to one another is critical.

Integrity, my North Star: to do the right thing.

It’s always paid off for me. When I was in leadership positions at a younger age, I reflect back how I could have possibly accomplished what I did. I attribute it to “doing the right and best thing” with one foot in front of the other.

I believe that everyone has immense potential and it is possible for each of us to shine, and to be able to remove any obstacles that get in our way to do that. I offer non-judgmental feedback that holds your work up.

Then, there is Fun.

Let’s play. Much of my coaching and facilitating works with play, experimentation and fun.

I love to read. A lot.

I am studying French. I bicycle along the Hudson River. I tend a flower garden in front of my city building. I walk through the beauty of Central Park. I love the seashore. Whenever I can, I get to the beach to collect beautiful artifacts and stare at waves.

I am proud to offer my time to three mutual aid initiatives in my NYC neighborhood: community composting, collect food for the food insecure for the Community Cupboard, and run a Free Store to provide a smaller waste stream as waste/landfill diversion for a greener world.

Why I coach?

I liken this to an experience I had when I was in acting school. There was an emphasis placed on Improvisation. We were given the opportunity to perform in the Friday Night Improvisation Shows. I asked to be part as often as possible.

For this one show, we were to include the First Years. It would be their very first time. During preparation, I noticed three guys standing in front of me in trepidation. I asked what was the matter.  They confessed that they were terrified. It is pretty daunting going into the unknown.

I said “Don’t worry. I got your back. I’m there for you.”

During one game, I was paired with one of the guys. We play the game, adhering to its structure, the principles. We held each other up. It wasn’t me, and him. It was us. The results were magnificent.

Using the principles and the structures in any situation, as a coach, “I got your back.”

In the past, I was a soccer coach of a girls’ team. When I took over the team, they had never won a game. Together, we formed an “ensemble” similar to an orchestra – everyone delighted in playing their “parts” and as a team we became #1.

There were only two rules: have fun and, when you are on the field with these players, we show love to each other.  A winning combination.
