Improvisation For Breakthrough Results

This program exists to bring you greater mastery and skill in environments that throw you in to uncertainty at any given moment.

“Prepare to be Unprepared” is what Amy Poehler (SNL, Second City, etc) said she learned to do as improviser.

When we explore how you stay in the moment and think on our feet, you feel in greater control of your situation.

Lucky for my clients, I trained with the man who brought Improvisation to the American Theatre 60+ years ago.

In addition, I attended the NYC acting conservatory he co-founded.

I’ve adapted the work to leaders, business and everyday people.

Why Improvisation?

In the workshop, you will do what improvisers do to prepare, perform, and succeed when the stakes are high.

I’ll take you through improvisation exercises and activities that help you tap in to your intuition and inner knowing.

    · Think on your feet in fast paced or uncomfortable situations and feel in control

    · Deal with uncertainty and maintain stability

    · Go deeper into relationships because connection comes more naturally

    · Enjoy taking risks more readily

    · Take the creative space to more effectively solve problems

In your business toolkit you have experience, strategy, a solid education, and well-laid plans. Yet, sooner or later, you begin to realize that the act of leadership becomes a delicate balance that requires advanced improvisational skills.

This is where your experience and training may fall short.

Here you become more open and direct in your communication.

It‘s a novel experience with new ways to have you be more successful in your business.

The work is fast-paced and hey, it’s not around a conference table!

    Testimonials

Martha managed to give us concrete illustrations of how powerful some improvisation techniques are in a business setting.

I took away the power of “yes, and” and ·how well people came across, driven by such things as their enthusiasm, humor, and willingness to take risk (and often irrespective of the content of what they had to say); and how much easier it is for me to listen well and act on that listening when I’m comfortable.

The workshop was for me also a step along the path of feeling increasingly comfortable in foreign situations and with people I don’t know. The intent to learn vs. know resonates as well, and I find it a useful concept.

What I specifically took away from the session was yielding to others and not projecting what I wanted the outcome to be, therefore keeping me keenly aware and very present.

Many clients have me facilitate this as part of a corporate training program or and offsite.
